Body Image/Food Issues/Eating Disorders

Are you constantly worrying about how you look or feel that your entire sense of self seems to depend on your appearance? Do you fight your appetite or not allow yourself food? Or do find yourself eating when you are not hungry, or eating when you don’t want to? Or caught between doing both? The reality is that behavior around food can get very complicated, and unusual food behavior is often a mask for issues.  Restricting food or over indulging with food changes our body chemistry, distracts us from other things that may be occurring, and can become a playground where we act out issues related to control, perfectionism, detachment, approval seeking, loneliness and all sorts of other issues.  They don’t call it comfort food for no reason! Eating habits can be very difficult to break out of, and disordered eating can easily become very trapping.  We will examine your feelings about yourself, your body, your reasons for eating and for not eating and environmental triggers . Through learning to separate food from emotion,  Joannah will help you get to the bottom of relevant issues driving  unhealthy behavior, and build the environment and behavioral change for the healthiest and happiest you.  Joannah will help you to a find the place where you will feel  confident ,comfortable in your skin, healthy  and happy.
